Though I have a respectful and perhaps primordial fear of this creature I also respect and admire them. I have had several encounters with rattlers and they always were adamant about letting me know where their boundaries were. They are survivors and I can't help but admire them for their beauty and danger. I have used their image often in my work and am delighted to see another artist doing the same. I too tend to draw most of the time and fine it interesting that your images of rattlers are also drawn. Good luck in your work!
I saw this at the Lora Schlesinger Gallery and wanted to extend my appreciation. I grew up in the sagebrush before the maps grew up around me, so it really struck a chord.
Catherine, thank you for your comments regarding a similar resonance in regards to rattlers, beauty & danger, well said, loved hearing from another artist drawing rattlers. H. Summers, thank you for your story as well, where were you before "the maps grew up around you?"
